The Nine Nations of Karridran

Karridran is a large, eastern continent that is highly populated by the sentient races of Frith. It consists of nine official nations, all bound for the last several hundred years by complicated treaties involving trade agreements and arranged royal marriages. Every few years, various squabbles between the three largest nations- Farowen, Malvia, and Kordith- result in shifting alliances, scandals, and the inevitable renegotiation of terms. Despite the great drama and political maneuvering, it has been centuries since the last real war. The smaller or border nations rarely even notice the movements of their cousins, except for the one or two countries unlucky enough to be annexed at some point in the name of someone else’s bid for power.

Charbriq

The smallest nation in Karridran bar one, Charbriq is primarily populated by humans and enjoys a modicum of wealth. The royal Alvetica family was burdened in recent years with no less than seven daughters, causing a minor political squabble over the appointment of an heir (had no Charbriqi nobles been found suitable to marry the eldest princess, [Nation 6] and [Nation 4] would likely have been pushed into war given an unresolved and nearly forgotten dispute concerning each having a claim to the territory in such an event- an old clerical oversight being the root of the problem).
